We’ve proven our value with leading care organisations and are now entering a phase of rapid scaling-up — across new customers, markets, and product lines. To support this, we’re looking for a hands-on and strategic technical lead to own the technical roadmap and vision, elevate our architecture, and grow a world-class engineering culture, with a clear path to becoming our CTO.

Syntilio is where healthcare innovation meets technical excellence. We are the orchestration layer that connects fragmented care systems across the Netherlands (and soon beyond), enabling smarter workflows, faster triage, and more human-centered care.
Our platform includes:
- Syntilio DataHub – Bi-directional dynamic and scalable data and events integration across ECDs, EPDs, and IoT devices.
- Syntilio CareHub – Orchestrates triage, follow-up, and collaboration between formal and informal caregivers.
- Syntilio VideoHub – Seamless, privacy-compliant video communication tailored for remote care.
We integrate with IoT platforms, communication channels, and care systems to bring the right data at the right time to the right person. We aim to become the tech foundation behind care monitoring and coordination centers in the Netherlands (first), the EU (later) and globally (ultimately).
Your Impact
As our technical leader, you'll be the technical compass that guides Syntilio's product development and engineering culture. You'll balance startup agility with enterprise reliability as you:
- Build, lead and scale a small but high-performing engineering and product team
- Translate our product strategy into a clear achievable technical roadmap and system design
- Own the technical architecture as it grows, ensuring it’s scalable, reliable, and secure as we expand to new markets and domains
- Deliver with the team new integrations with medical systems (ECD/EPD), IoT platforms, alarm systems, and telephony
- Define and champion best practices across development, DevOps, security, testing, and deployment
- Balance rapid experimentation with clinical-grade reliability and traceability
- Partner with our CEO, Product Owner, Implementation, Support and Commercial teams to ensure technology drives measurable customer value
- Contribute to expanding our ecosystem of technical partnerships by engaging with integration partners and healthtech suppliers
- Actively participate in the broader eHealth and interoperability community (e.g. Nuts Foundation, Nictiz, HL7 NL) to stay aligned with evolving standards
- Represent Syntilio in customer meetings to understand integration requirements and translate them into actionable technical plans for the team
- Help shape the next evolution of our platform by embedding customer feedback and long-term interoperability trends into our roadmap
This role is both strategic and operational. You’ll spend your time on high-level architecture and direction, but also reviewing pull requests, pair programming, or debugging complex workflows alongside your team when needed.
About You
You're a technical leader who understands that in healthcare, innovation must be paired with reliability. You thrive in environments where your decisions directly impact patient care and provider operations.
Essential Qualities:
- Deep experience leading engineering teams and driving technical strategy
- Strong background in API development, integration platforms, and scalable architecture
- Experience balancing innovation with stability in mission-critical systems
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Passion for creating technology that makes a meaningful difference in people's lives
- Native Dutch speaker, fluent in English.
- Healthcare IT industry experience, particularly in integration solutions for healthcare providers with healthcare data standards and interoperability requirements (HL7, FHIR) is a pré.
Technical Experience:
- API design and implementation (REST, event-driven architectures)
- Cloud infrastructure and deployment strategies
- Security best practices, especially in regulated environments
- Integration patterns and approaches
- Experience with our key technologies Salesforce platform & Azure serverless functions is a strong pré.
